Meadowbrook Church of God to celebrate 50 years in Rayland

RAYLAND — Meadowbrook Church of God is inviting the community to celebrate the church’s 50 th anniversary in Rayland with a special worship service and potluck dinner on Sunday, Sept. 29.

Pastor Dave Hennen will preside over a special service at 10:30 a.m. at 10152 State Route 150, with retired pastor Marvin Schooler also speaking. Guests are encouraged to bring a side dish to share at a potluck dinner immediately following the service.

The church is interested in hearing memories from those who attend or have attended at any point in Meadowbrook’s history, Hennen said.

Meadowbrook has deep ties in the Ohio Valley. The church began in 1894 in Little Rush Run as a result of the Floating Bethel river vessel that planted churches in the early Church of God (Anderson, Ind.) movement. Meadowbrook later moved to Tiltonsville before opening its current church building in Rayland in 1974. The church has a vision of helping others find hope in a world that can be challenging.

Throughout its long history, the church has worked with local organizations to benefit the community. In addition, Meadowbrook hosts an annual car show, youth vacation Bible school and a regular yard sale. Its annual Halloween trunk or treat is set for 4-6 p.m. Oct. 20.
