Birds and Breakfast will take place 7-11 a.m. May 31 in the Egypt Valley Wildlife Area on Salem Ridge Road, Flushing. This birding event is free and open to the public. Come any time, rain or shine. Enjoy a free breakfast, then hike through grasslands, wetlands and woodlands to spend some time with the birds. Birders of any skill level are welcome. Dillonvale Rosebuds will host the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs Spring Regional Meeting at 9 a.m. May 17 at Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Friends Church, located at 478 Union St., Mt. Pleasant. Martins Ferry Knights of Columbus will hold a fish fry on Friday at the council home, 25 N. Fourth St., from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. or until the fish is sold out. THE STRAIGHT Shooter Band will be playing from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Neffs American Legion Post 77 in Neffs.
The Upper Ohio Valley Myasthenia Support Group will meet at 1 p.m. May 17. The group meets monthly in Wheeling to offer peer support to local residents with Myasthenia Gravis and their caregivers. Monroe County Board of Developmental Disabilities has scheduled its regular meeting for 6 p.m. Monday at the board’s administrative office. This meeting is open to the public.
The Belmont County Family and Children First Council is scheduled to meet at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The meeting will be located at Belmont County Department of Job and Family Services, 68145 Hammond Road, St. Clairsville. This meeting is open to the public. MARTINS FERRY Christian School will hold its second annual rigatoni or meatball sub fundraiser dinner from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the First Christian Church Family Life Center, 800 S. Zane Highway. Meals are $10 each and include: rigatoni, salad, dinner roll and desert OR meatball sub, salad and dessert. Meatball subs alone are $5.00. Dine in or take out.
THE FIFTH Annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors Feminine Hygiene Product Donation Drive continues until May 31. Products will be distributed to area organizations and agencies to help the women and girls they serve. In addition to donations of products, monetary contributions are also being accepted and will be used to purchase items. Checks can be made out to Soroptimist International of Wheeling. OHIO VALLEY Trail Partners will again partner with Ogden Newspapers by including a Heritage Trail Ride as part of the Wellness Weekend in late May. OVTP is a group of local bicycling enthusiasts who strive to improve and enhance Heritage Trail. The annual Memorial Day bicycle event serves as a fundraiser to help support OVTP efforts. SONS OF Italy Uguaglianza Lodge 754 hosts a dance night from 7:30-10:30 p.m. the second Saturday of each month at the lodge, located at 3348 Belmont St., Bellaire. The featured band Saturday, May 10, is Poor Man’s Heaven.

THE BARNESVILLE Pumpkin Festival Committee is selling seeds from its King Pumpkin winners from 2022, 2023 and 2024. Seeds from the 2022 King Pumpkin are available for $50 each through Dec. 31. For the 2023 champion, seeds cost $20 each or $50 for three. Seeds from the 2024 King Pumpkin are $30 apiece or $100 for a set of four. THE OHIO Valley Promenaders hold line dancing lessons at 6 p.m. and square dances and lessons at 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the Bellaire Public Library community room. The group is open to all ages. While many of the Promenaders are seasoned pros, they are always accepting new members.
