SUNDAY, June 15, Pastor Aaron Szloboda will be sharing from Acts 11 at the 8 a.m. Traditional and 9:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. contemporary services at Friends Church in East Richland, 67885 Friends Church Road, St. Clairsville. The Castle will host a Summer Solstice Concert at 7 p.m. June 19. The Castle is located at 418 Fourth St. in Marietta, Ohio. The summer solstice is a celestial event that has been important to cultures around the world for thousands of years. At Marietta, this event was marked by Native Americans with alignments on the prehistoric earthworks. This year The Castle will celebrate the summer solstice with an outdoor concert by the band R&R, and commentary by staff archaeologist Wes Clarke.

The Martins Ferry Knights of Columbus will hold a fish fry at their council home, 25 N. 4th St., on Friday June 6 from 11 am until

5 pm or until the fish is sold out.

Menu includes Coleman’s fish, onion rings, french fries, cole slaw, pop, tea, water. Phone 740-633-0528. Call early for afternoon orders.

The Belmont County Retired Teachers Association will hold a luncheon and meeting at noon June 5 at Mehlman’s Cafeteria. Attendees do not need to make a reservation. Attendees will go through the line and pay for their own meal, so they should arrive by 11:30 a.m. Billy Marinaci from Belmont County Senior Services will present a program outlining services that are available to senior citizens of Belmont County. Service project will be “Pin the Money on the Schoolhouse” in support of our scholarship program. Prospective members should call Dorothy Strama at 304-281-1425. Any educational professional, regardless of where they live, is invited to join.

A free clothing giveaway is offered on the second Monday of each month starting June 9 through November at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church Clothes Closet, located at 56381 National Road, Bridgeport (Brookside) from 8 a.m. to noon. Clothing ranges from newborn to adult plus sizes. If you have too many clothes in your closet, attic, spare room or basement and they are in good condition, the church is also accepting clothes donations as well. Everyone is welcome. Birds and Breakfast will take place 7-11 a.m. May 31 in the Egypt Valley Wildlife Area on Salem Ridge Road, Flushing. This birding event is free and open to the public. Come any time, rain or shine. Enjoy a free breakfast, then hike through grasslands, wetlands and woodlands to spend some time with the birds. Birders of any skill level are welcome. THE FIFTH Annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors Feminine Hygiene Product Donation Drive continues until May 31. Products will be distributed to area organizations and agencies to help the women and girls they serve. In addition to donations of products, monetary contributions are also being accepted and will be used to purchase items. Checks can be made out to Soroptimist International of Wheeling. SONS OF Italy Uguaglianza Lodge 754 hosts a dance night from 7:30-10:30 p.m. the second Saturday of each month at the lodge, located at 3348 Belmont St., Bellaire.

BINGO WILL be offered at St. John Central Academy gym, 3625 Guernsey St., Bellaire, the first Sunday of each month. Doors open at 1 p.m. with bingo games starting at 2 p.m. Bingo will also be played the first Thursday of each month with doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo at 5 p.m. Food, concessions and raffles will be available. THE BARNESVILLE Pumpkin Festival Committee is selling seeds from its King Pumpkin winners from 2022, 2023 and 2024. Seeds from the 2022 King Pumpkin are available for $50 each through Dec. 31. For the 2023 champion, seeds cost $20 each or $50 for three. Seeds from the 2024 King Pumpkin are $30 apiece or $100 for a set of four. THE OHIO Valley Promenaders hold line dancing lessons at 6 p.m. and square dances and lessons at 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the Bellaire Public Library community room. The group is open to all ages. While many of the Promenaders are seasoned pros, they are always accepting new members. Newcomers can jump in quickly, as square dancing is based on walking to eight counts and the caller leads dancers on what to do in a “learn as you go” fashion.
