CENTERVILLE SENIOR Center invites individuals 60 years of age and older from the Jacobsburg/Centerville and surrounding area to an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Centerville Senior Center/Smith Township Community Center, 46642 Main St., Centerville. The purpose is to encourage all attending to become active members of the center.

MARTINS FERRY Knights of Columbus will hold a fish fry at the council home, 25 N. Fourth St., on Friday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. or until the fish is sold out. Eat in or takeout orders are available. Menu includes Coelman’s fish, onion rings, french fries, cole slaw, pop, tea, water. Call 740-633-0528 early for afternoon orders.

THE 19TH Annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Drive will take place Oct. 1-Nov. 30. Non-perishable items will be accepted and will be distributed to local agencies. JB GREEN Team is again collecting paper and cardboard at specific locations. In Belmont County it is located at the St. Clairsville dropoff site just off Fair Avenue close to Red Devil Stadium. The Jefferson County bin is located at the Steubenville Mall. The special bins will be at these locations until Nov. 15, which is America Recycles Day. All proceeds from the paper and cardboard will go to local food pantries in both counties.

FLUSHING UNITED Methodist Church, 301 High St., Flushing, will have its semi-annual rummage sale on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 740-968-3664 for more information.

THE COMMUNITY of Shadyside, specifically Vision Shadyside, will be holding a Meet the Candidate Forum at 6 p.m. Sept. 30 at the offices of OHIO-WV Excavating (right beside the Tiger Pub) on 39th Street and Central Avenue. Candidates invited include the Shadyside mayoral candidates, Shadyside Village Council, Shadyside Board of Education and Mead Township Trustee. All community members are welcome to attend and may submit a question for the candidates to Jayson Johnson @ jaysoncjohnson@outlook.com.

A FALL basket bingo will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 5 at New Athens Firehall. Doors open at noon.

SONS OF Italy Uguaglianza Lodge 754 hosts a dance night from 7:30-10:30 p.m. the second Saturday of each month at the lodge, located at 3348 Belmont St., Bellaire.

A FREE clothing giveaway is offered on the second Monday of each month through November at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church Clothes Closet, located at 56381 National Road, Bridgeport (Brookside) from 8 a.m. to noon. Clothing ranges from newborn to adult plus sizes. If you have too many clothes in your closet, attic, spare room or basement and they are in good condition, the church is also accepting clothes donations as well. Everyone is welcome. THE BARNESVILLE Pumpkin Festival Committee is selling seeds from its King Pumpkin winners from 2022, 2023 and 2024. Seeds from the 2022 King Pumpkin are available for $50 each through Dec. 31. For the 2023 champion, seeds cost $20 each or $50 for three. Seeds from the 2024 King Pumpkin are $30 apiece or $100 for a set of four. THE OHIO Valley Promenaders hold line dancing lessons at 6 p.m. and square dances and lessons at 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the Bellaire Public Library community room. The group is open to all ages. While many of the Promenaders are seasoned pros, they are always accepting new members. Newcomers can jump in quickly, as square dancing is based on walking to eight counts and the caller leads dancers on what to do in a “learn as you go” fashion.
