Davison, Carpenter Marriage

Brian Carpenter and Kate Davison were united in marriage on Saturday, May 13, at 2 p.m. St. Mary’s Church in St. Clairsville. The Very Rev. Thomas Chillog officiated the ceremony. A reception was held at Oglebay’s Pine Room.

The bride is the daughter of Ken and Linda Davison of St. Clairsville. The groom is the son of Brent Carpenter and stepson of Sherrie Carpenter of Quaker City, Ohio. The groom’s mother is Mary Wilcoxen of Belpre, Ohio.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore her mother’s wedding dress the same month her parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. The gown is made from sugarcane jersey with a lace-encrusted basque waist, keyhole neckline, jeweled wedding ring collar, high rise bodice, empire waist, softly flowing toe length skirt with lace-edged hemline and chapel train. A timeless French braid secured her elbow-length illusion veil. The bride’s mother purchased the dress for $100 in 1977. The bride carried a bouquet comprised of white hydrangea, vendella roses, sweet unique roses, Anna roses, baby pink spray roses, white lisianthus and adorned with pearls.

The new Mrs. Carpenter celebrated her marriage alongside her sister-in-law and matron of honor, Caitlin Jones Davison, lifelong friend and maid of honor Jenna Vavra, and friends of the bride Aly Cohen and Sara Pelegreen. The groom’s father served as best man, alongside groomsman Greg Davison, the bride’s brother, and junior groomsmen Evan and Tyson Carpenter, brothers of the groom.

The bride is a 2008 graduate of St. Clairsville High School and a 2011 graduate of The Ohio State University. Upon graduation, she was signed on as the Belmont County reporter for WTOV9. She served as the NEWS9 Sunrise Anchor for three years while studying for a master’s degree in Organizational Communication, which she completed in 2015. The bride returned to her position as a reporter and fill-in anchor in 2016.

The groom is a 2003 graduate of Buckeye Trail High School and a 2005 graduate of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy. He began his law enforcement career at the Belmont County Sheriff’s Department the same year. The groom also served as an officer with the Barnesville Police Department and former Cambridge State Hospital before rejoining Belmont County deputies in 2011, where he and his four-pawed partner, K-9 Hyra, are assigned to drug interdiction and are members of the Belmont County Major Crimes Unit and the Special Operations Branch of the office.

Mr. and Mrs. Brian Carpenter met at the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office in 2012, where the bride was on assignment and unwittingly interviewed her future husband. The pair honeymooned in Turks and Caicos following the wedding.
