Denny’s House of Hair under new ownership

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Denny Hudson opened Denny’s House of Hair 40 years ago, and now it’s time to pass the mantle on to a new generation. Hudson has retired, and the new owner is Andrea Nolte.

Nolte worked at Denny’s for approximately one year before she took over the business this summer. She said owning a salon has been a dream of hers for a long time.

Nolte began learning the ins and outs of the beauty industry when she was a teenager. She worked summers at Total Hair Care, a Shadyside salon owned by her aunt, Becky Goudy.

“She taught me so much,” Nolte offered.

Nolte has also worked at Trade Secret and Tony’s Nails.

“Denny wanted someone who loves doing hair and the atmosphere,” Nolte said, explaining why she was chosen to take over the salon. “When I got the opportunity, I couldn’t ask for anything better.”

Nolte will be keeping the name for brand recognition.

“It’s been here 40 years,” she said. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

However, Nolte does plan to revamp the salon with new interior design.

Experience is not in short supply at Denny’s. For example, stylist Barb Pickerington has been doing hair for 30 years, while stylist Beverly Greenlee has 12 years of experience under her belt. Other stylists include Jody Peroni, Kelly Frazier, and Alexandra Chmel.

Denny’s House of Hair offers all types of hair services, including cuts, colors, perms, and a barber for men’s hair. They also offer manicures, pedicures, waxing, and massages.

The salon opens at 9 a.m. Closing times vary, and evenings are available. Call (740) 695-9101 to make an appointment or learn more. Denny’s House of Hair, sometimes known as Denny’s Hair Designing, is located at 239 East Main Street in St. Clairsville.
