Robinson on the ‘cutting-edge’

After more than 50 successful years in the automobile business, Bob Robinson still strives to stay on the “cutting-edge” by exceeding the standards established for General Motors Co. showrooms.

Just seven years after opening the firm’s location on the south side of Interstate 70 at The Highlands, Bob Robinson Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac received a facelift recently.

“We had the opportunity to be on the cutting-edge of GM’s new facility image program,” Bob Robinson, president of Robinson Auto Group, said. “This is GM’s newest plan.”

Robinson said Wheeling-based Walters Construction Inc. performed the renovations at the GM structure, originally opened in 2008.

Roberta Robinson Olejasz, Bob Robinson’s daughter, is the dealer/operator for Bob Robinson Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac. Jim Robinson, Bob Robinson’s son, is the dealer/operator for Jim Robinson Ford Lincoln, as well as Jim Robinson Toyota Scion.

Among the Robinson dealerships at The Highlands location, Bob Robinson said the company sells about 4,000 vehicles per year.

“Our 142 employees are very important,” Bob Robinson said. “We strive to provide our customers with a very professional experience.”

Robinson said this is the 14th building in which he has worked during his career, hinting he’s not ruled out a 15th.

“We’ve always worked to exceed the standards to meet the needs of our customers,” he added.
