Progressive Bank awards scholarship

WHEELING — On July 13, Progressive Bank presented Brandon Paul Tenney from its Buckhannon Branch with the 2016 Progressive Bank College Scholarship Award.

Progressive Bank offers a $1,000 a year scholarship to a first-time freshman, with a total award of  $4,000 over the four years.

Tenney was one of many of our area high school students who applied for the bank’s annual scholarship.

In order to be eligible for this scholarship program, an applicant, or a member of an applicant’s immediate family must be a Progressive Bank deposit customer.

There are numerous statistics taken into consideration when choosing the recipient of the scholarship.

Not only are the applicant’s ACT scores, SAT scores, high school grade point average and high school class rank taken into consideration, but also their letters of recommendation.

Tenney attended Buckhannon Upshur High School.

His high school academic record was quite impressive. He excelled in all areas.

Tenney is furthering his education at Wheeling Jesuit University this fall.

Progressive Bank sponsored a dinner for the scholarship award at the Wheeling Jesuit University Center for Educational

Technologies.

Attending the celebration along with Brandon were his parents, J.P. Tenney and Kristie Tenney, and his sister, Julie Tenney.

The president and CEO of Progressive Bank, William G. Petroplus, and his wife, Sheree Petroplus, were also present.

Also in attendance were the scholarship committee and many others. It was an enjoyable time for all.
