Bordas Mineral Management opens doors to protect landowners

WHEELING – Jim Bordas, Tony Francis and Ben Bordas are pleased to announce the opening of a new mineral management company, Bordas Mineral Management.

Bordas Mineral Management, located in Wheeling, has been formed to assist landowners in ensuring that they are compensated properly for their mineral interests. The mineral management services include the development of oil and gas leases, analysis of royalty statements, assistance in selling minerals, and professionals providing assistance in lease negotiations. The mineral management services are available for those living in West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Jim Bordas has 45 years of experience as a trial lawyer and has spent the last five years assisting many landowners through the maze of problems they have encountered. He also has experience in negotiating leases and has litigated a number of oil and gas issues.

“We have found that most people who have benefited from the Marcellus/Utica shale lack the time, knowledge and experience to properly access and monitor their mineral interests,” Jim Bordas said. “At Bordas Mineral Management, our passion is to protect those who are receiving mineral royalty checks and to ensure they are getting paid what is rightfully theirs. Through our company, we are able to collect and maintain records of royalty payments which will provide peace of mind for the royalty owner.”

Francis, an oil and gas industry successor is also a major part of the Bordas Mineral Management team. Francis has been able to raise hundreds of millions of dollars to help landowners across the tri-state area to maximize the value of their mineral assets.

He has represented landowners and mineral owners through much of West Virginia, eastern and northern Ohio, and western Pennsylvania. In representing “the little guy” Francis has gained the trust and respect of not only the land and mineral owners, but has also built many personal relationships with executives in the industry, such as Jon Brumley, who started XTO, Holbrook Dorn of Blackstone Minerals, and Chris O’Sullivan, CEO of Paloma Resources.

“Six years ago, I recognized a need to become educated about the various intricacies of the oil and gas industry. I started seeing men working for some of the major oil and gas companies in the country going from farm to farm in the tri-state trying to get people to sign papers and talking people into contracts that weren’t, in most cases, in the people’s best interest,” Francis said. “At the end of the day, we just want landowners to be educated about their mineral holdings and comfortable with the decisions that they have made.”

Ben Bordas, a Wheeling native, is also joining the mineral management company. Bordas, who will be working alongside Francis to assist and represent landowners, is a 2001 graduate of Clemson University and has been heavily involved in buying, reclaiming and selling real estate. Bordas is looking forward to protecting landowners who have not been receiving fair payments.
