Local school official to serve on OSBA committee

COLUMBUS — Michael Fador, a member of the St. Clairsville-Richland City Schools and Belmont Harrison Career Center boards of education, has been named to the following committees at the Ohio School Boards Association:

– Board of Trustees — The Board of Trustees has general charge of the affairs, funds and property of the association. It has full power to carry out the purposes of the association, according to the OSBA constitution. The board is composed of the eight-member Executive Committee, representatives from Ohio’s six largest school districts and 18 representatives selected by OSBA’s five regions.

– Capital Conference Planning Task Force — The Capital Conference Planning Task Force helps plan the annual OSBA Capital Conference and Trade Show, which is held each November in Columbus. Board members, superintendents, treasurers, Ohio Department of Education officials and other school officials attend the conference, which features learning sessions, general sessions and workshops on scores of topics.

– Federal Relations Network — The Federal Relations Network is the National School Boards Association’s major grassroots lobbying force involved in federal issues. The network consists of two board members in each congressional district who are appointed by the OSBA president and then ratified by the OSBA Board of Trustees. Members work with NSBA through the OSBA Division of Legislative Services.

– OSBA Executive Committee — The Executive Committee serves as the governing body of the association between meetings of the Board of Trustees. The Executive Committee is composed of the president, president-elect, immediate past president and one representative from each of OSBA’s five regions.

– Southeast Regional Executive Committee — The Southeast Region Executive Committee provides governance and leadership to school board members in Athens, Belmont, Coshocton, Gallia, Guernsey, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Pike, Scioto, Vinton and Washington counties. The committee is elected by OSBA members in the Southeast Region.

Committee appointments were finalized at the February meeting of the OSBA Board of Trustees.
