CADIZ – Family medicine specialist Dr. Dan Jones has been named medical director of Harrison Community Hospital, a division of Wheeling Hospital.

Jones will maintain office hours at HCH, as well as his offices in Colerain and St. Clairsville.

“Dr. Jones is an excellent choice for this important position. Not only is he a skilled, talented and compassionate physician, he has that natural leadership ability. And since he is a Colerain area native, he knows many of the residents of this region. We are fortunate to have him leading our medical team and helping enhance patient care team at HCH,” said John DeBlasis, HCH vice president.

As medical director, Jones also will be responsible for contributing to HCH’s overall medical vision, as well as providing strategy, development and implementation of innovative clinical services.

Jones graduated with distinction in biology from Ohio State University and earned a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. His internship and residency were performed at Wheeling Hospital, where Jones also served as a preceptor.

While serving his residency, Jones received the Dr. Thomas L. Ritz Scholarship, awarded to senior family medicine residents who display competency in academia, professionalism and leadership skills.

Jones is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. In addition, he is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association and the American College of Family Physicians.

He volunteers as medical director for the Adena EMS. Jones also provides voluntary medical services and athletic training to various schools and athletes within the OVAC. The former OVAC wrestling champion and Southeast District Wrestler of the Year has maintained an active participation in the sport by becoming an Ohio High School Athletic Association certified official.
