Board of Elections honors retiree after 18 years of service
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — David Jerico is set to retire from his work as an employee of the Belmont County Board of Elections.
Jerico, a U.S. Army veteran and a retired Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, is retiring from the post after 18 years of service.
“My father always said, ‘Give a good day’s work for a good day’s pay’, and that is what I’ve always tried to do,” Jerico said.
Jerico also said he was in the Army for three years and worked for the patrol for more than 30 years. Now, after nearly two decades with the board of elections, he said it’s time to call it quits.
The other board members said they were all thankful for his service and they all shared a laugh with Jerico, joking about not accepting his retirement.
“Dave was a top-notch employee. He has always gone above and beyond what he’s been asked to do. He is not just an employee, he is a friend,” board member Cynthia Fregiato said.
Jerico did say before he left that he would be happy to volunteer his time now and then.
