Carlini’s Pizza celebrates 25 years in business

T-L Photo/CARRI GRAHAM Carlini’s Pizza Shop owners Randy and Jocelyn Zandron pose for a photo similar to the one taken when they first opened the business in 1994 (shown in the album on the counter in front of them).

SHADYSIDE — Carlini’s Pizza Shop is celebrating 25 years in business this month.

The actual anniversary occurred on April 13, but the shop will hold its 25-year-anniversary celebration this Monday and Tuesday. It will include discounts on pizza, T-shirts and giveaways.

Owners Randy and Jocelyn Zandron began renting the pizza shop in 1994, before purchasing the location in 1996. They had their grand opening on April 13, 1994.

The couple decided to name the shop after Randy’s grandmother, whose maiden name was Carlini. Her photo continues to hang on the wall, inside the pizza shop.

Randy explained that he has about 34 years in this business.

“We make good, quality products,” he said.

They seem to know what they are doing when it comes to pizza. He said that between himself and the four other bakers at the pizza shop, they have about 120 years combined experience.

“Not many other places can say that,” he noted.

Co-owner Jocelyn displayed a flyer from 1994, when they first opened the shop. It states their pizza was only 50 cents a slice back then. She said the prices have not increased much, as the price now is $1 per slice.

Both Randy and Jocelyn are Shadyside residents. They enjoy supporting and giving back to their community, they agreed. Last week, they donated 25 percent of their sales to the Shadyside High School Lady Tigers Track and Field team. They also recently donated to the nursing program at John Marshall High School for the third year in a row. The couple has used their successful pizza shop as a way to help many other local schools and programs in the area.

“We are community driven, if someone needs something, we help, we donate. … We support the kids and the schools,” Randy said.

The pizza shop is located at 4010 Central Ave., Shadyside and is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
