Interdiction unit makes more arrests

BRIDGEPORT — The Belmont County Criminal Interdiction Unit made two more drug-related arrests Wednesday night following a foot chase.

According to Belmont County Sheriff David Lucas, K-9 Deputies Brian Carpenter and Dustin Hilderbrand of the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit, along with the assistance of the Bridgeport Police Department, arrested Roy Brown, 32, of Cleveland and Brittany Foster, 31, of Bridgeport.

Lucas said his deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant issued by Belmont County Common Pleas Court for Foster at her apartment for failure to appear. Brown reportedly broke out a window, jumped out and attempted to flee. Brown was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit, and Foster was apprehended after she was found hiding in a bathroom cabinet, Lucas said.

Deputies then searched Foster’s apartment, which led to the discovery of suspected cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, marijuana and 272 grams of crystal methamphetamine. Deputies also seized over $400 in cash. The total street value of the suspected narcotics found is more than $20,000.

Brown and Foster were lodged in the Belmont County Jail based on multiple felony charges.

Brown faces a count of obstructing justice, one count of tampering with evidence, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of trafficking in drugs. He also was charged with one count possession of drugs, one count of trafficking in drugs, one count of possession of drugs and one count of trafficking in drugs. In addition, Brown was charged with one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana and one count of resisting arrest.

Foster faces counts of failure to appear on a warrant for burglary, possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs and one count of possession of drugs. She faces a misdemeanor count of obstruction of justice and one count each of felony possession and trafficking in drugs. She also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug abuse instruments, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and one fifth-degree felony count of permitting drug abuse.

Brown’s bond was set at $103,485 and Foster’s at $26,985.
