The majestic American Duchess paddlewheeler made a stop for several hours at Wheeling Heritage Port Tuesday afternoon on its way from Pittsburgh to Louisville. Most of the 166 passenger aboard the American Queen Steamboat Company’s luxurious vessel took time to tour different locations in the downtown Wheeling area aboard several of the company’s tour buses. Meanwhile, the Queen of the Mississippi, another paddlewheeler from a different company, American Cruise Line, docked briefly Tuesday in McMechen on a 10-day river cruise from St. Louis to Pittsburgh. At one point Tuesday, the Queen passed the Duchess while it was docked in Wheeling.
