Transportation program to be revised

WHEELING — Bel-O-Mar Regional Council is proposing to revise the Fiscal Year 2018-2021 Transportation Improvement Program.

Fiscal year programming is on a July 1 basis with FY2018 beginning July 1, 2017. Projects must be included in the local TIP and the state TIP to be eligible for federal funding. Bel-O-Mar is currently accepting public comments regarding the projects described below.

As requested by the Ohio Department of Transportation, the following amendments are planned:

∫ The construction phase cost of the Ohio147/Ohio 800 Intersection Improvement Project in Barnesville will be revised from $55,000 to $135,300.

∫ A traffic study for Ohio 7 corridor between Powhatan Point and Shadyside will be programmed for FY2020. The estimated cost is $200,000.

As requested by the West Virginia Department of Transportation, the following amendments are planned:

∫ A mine subsidence repair project on Interstate 70 west of Dallas Pike Interchange (mile post 11.95) will be added for FY2020. The project ends near the Stool Fire Middle Wheeling Creek Road overpass (mile post 12.84). The programmed cost is $12,000,000.

∫ A Wheeling CBD Signal Renovation Project will be added for FY2021. The programmed cost is $3,500,000.

A public comment period regarding the proposed Transportation Improvement Program revisions extends through July 16, 2019. Interested parties who desire to present their views on this proposed revision should submit written comments to: Transportation Director, Bel-O-Mar Regional Council, P.O.
