MARTINS FERRY – Ferry Flowers and More recently celebrated its grand re-opening at its new location at 410 Walnut Street.

Owner Shelly Thornton moved the store just across the street from its old location in October to have more room for the growing business.

Thornton has owned the flower shop since August 2017 when she bought it from the previous owner. She and her “right hand gal,” Kellie Fausnaugh, are excited about the larger space that gives them more coolers, design space, and even a drive-through window where folks can place orders or stop to pick up their order.

“If a person comes to pick up an order, but they aren’t able to come into the shop, all they have to do is drive up to the window. We will happily then take the flower arrangement out to their car for them if it doesn’t fit through the window,” said Thornton.

The extra design space will now allow them to host events. The first one they will be hosting will be Monday, Nov. 25. As a play on the name of the shop, their event series will be called, “Ferry Flowers & Fun.” For November’s event, attendees will make a Thanksgiving centerpiece for a cost. There will be two time-slots for which folks can register: either 5-6:30 or 7-8:30 p.m. Folks must call to reserve their space at 740-633-2051.

Thornton and Fausnaugh take their designs personally, hence their motto, “We take flowers personally.” If at all possible, they like to learn a little about each of the people they are creating the arrangements for and then add creative, special touches to their pieces. They enjoy making one-of-a-kind memories through their flowers.

“That’s the part I like the best about the business,” said Thornton. “If a person from another state places an order, I also like to send them pictures of the finished product, so they know what was delivered. It’s another way we take it personally.”
