Sheriff responds to alleged threat at Swiss Hills

WOODSFIELD — Monroe County sheriff’s deputies took action Thursday at the Swiss Hills Career Center in Woodsfield.

According to a statement from Sheriff Charles Black, his office is investigating threats of bodily harm made against students as well as a bullying incident that occurred at Swiss Hills on Thursday. According to Black’s statement, one student has been taken into custody and others will shortly follow.

“It is our understanding that the public has been receiving messages from outside sources stating that there was a school shooting or a bomb located in the school. This information is incorrect. There was never any school shooter, nor was there ever a bomb located at Swiss Hills,” Black said in a statement relayed by an administrative assistant.

The sheriff’s office stated no one was hurt and further information may be released today. School officials could not be reached for comment.
