These events have been canceled or postponed due to COVID-19 concern

OHIO

∫ Gov. Mike DeWine on Thursday ordered Ohio schools closed for three weeks beginning at the end of the day Monday to help slow the spread of the coronavirus. The order runs through Friday, April 3. DeWine said the decision will be evaluated as time passes, including whether to extend it. The order applies to all K-12 schools, public and private, but not preschools or daycares.

∫ Ohio University Eastern has moved all classes to online.

∫ Franciscan University of Steubenville will convert classes to an online format no later than March 23.

∫ Eastern Gateway Community College announced there will be no classes at the college’s Steubenville and Youngstown campuses Monday and Tuesday, following this week’s spring break, so administrators and faculty can decide which on-campus courses may continue online.

∫ Ohio University Eastern has postponed the “Celebrate Women 2020” event that had been planned for March 19. It will be rescheduled.

∫ The Ohio Valley Egg Hunt in St. Clairsville is canceled. Anyone who wishes to have their money refunded should email info@ovegghunt.com with your first and last name. If you do not email within 14 days, the money from ticket sales will be donated to A Special Wish Ohio Valley.

WEST VIRGINIA

∫ The annual Festival of Nations in Weirton has been canceled.

∫ An Opioid Crisis EMS continuing education class at Wheeling Hospital has been canceled.

∫ A workplace violence seminar at Wheeling Hospital has been canceled.

∫ Wheeling Hospital also has temporarily suspended seminars, symposiums, support groups, community education and outreach events at its facilities.

∫ West Liberty University is extending spring break for in-person classes through March 20. All online classes will proceed as originally scheduled.

∫ West Virginia University canceled classes for the week of March 23 and will move all classes to online or alternate learning options on March 30.

∫ Bethany College has canceled its sixth annual Ann Trombadore Women and Leadership Weekend set for March 20-21. The college intends to bring back the event in 2021.

∫ West Liberty University has canceled the Hughes Lecture for March 26.

∫ The Seeing Hand Association in Wheeling is stopping its exercise, share group and bowling until May 1.

∫ West Virginia University’s TEDxWVU event, “Say it Loud,” has been postponed indefinitely.

∫ The West Virginia Poetry Out Loud finals event, scheduled for March 13-14 in Charleston, has been postponed until further notice.

∫ The City of Wheeling Human Rights Commission meeting that was scheduled for noon on March 17 has been canceled.

∫ The Invisible Patient sessions at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St Clairsville, and at First Christian Church, Wheeling, have been canceled.

∫ The Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce’s March Business After Hours scheduled for March 19 at Ruttenbucks Bar & Grill has been canceled.

∫ Bethany College will extend its spring break through March 20 and resume March 23 with online classes until further notice.

∫ West Liberty University is extending spring break for face-to-face classes through March 20. All employees are to report to work unless sick.

∫ West Liberty University has canceled the Hughes Lecture, which was to take place March 26 and featured Sarah Vowell.

∫ West Liberty University has canceled the Annual Florida Alumni Chapter Reunion planned for March 27-29 in Daytona Beach.

∫ West Liberty’s Community University, which meets at The Highlands Center campus, is canceled until further notice.

PENNSYLVANIA

∫ The Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival, scheduled at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Green Tree, Pennsylvania, March 2022, has been postponed due to COVID-19. New dates are to be announced.
