Orchestra names interim executive director

WHEELING — The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra’s board of directors has appointed Betsy Delk as interim executive director.

Delk resigned as a WSO board member and began her position as interim executive director Monday. She is a previous board president.

“I want to thank the WSO board of directors for the opportunity to serve the WSO in this capacity,” Delk said. “As a long-time member of the Board, I look forward to working more closely with our capable staff, talented musicians and our artistic leader, John Devlin. This remains an exciting time for the WSO as Maestro Devlin infuses the orchestra and the community with his enthusiastic vision for the future.”

Delk has been a member of the WSO board of directors since 2006 and served as board president for four years. She is a graduate of Miami University and the William & Mary College of Law. She practiced law with Bachmann, Hess, Bachmann & Garden.

“We were extremely pleased that Betsy is willing to serve as our interim executive director,” said Lou Khourey, board president. “Her love for the Wheeling Symphony, her experience with its operations, and her great work ethic, made her an easy choice to lead the organization at this time.”

Delk replaces, Bruce Wheeler, who left his position as executive director of the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra after serving in that role for 20 years.

Delk resides in Wheeling with her husband David and three daughters.
