Portion of Ohio 9 to close for 5 days

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Ohio Department of Transportation announced that a portion of Ohio 9 will close for five days for a culvert replacement project June 1. The closure will be between Pecks Lane and Bett-Mar Lane in St. Clairsville. The recommended detour is U.S. 40 west to Ohio 331, Ohio 331 west to Ohio 149, Ohio 149 north back to Ohio 9; and reverse. The completion date is set for June 5, weather permitting. The work is being performed by the St. Clairsville Street Department. For more information, call 740-695-3151.

Advisory committee to meet

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Belmont County Investment Advisory Committee will hold a meeting at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the treasurer’s office at the courthouse in St. Clairsville. The public is welcome to attend.

Slip to be repaired

WARNOCK — Beginning June 1, Ohio 9 will close for 30 days south of Warnock for a slide repair project. Traffic will detour via Ohio 147 west to Ohio 149, Ohio 149 south back to Ohio 9, and reverse. Completion date for all work is Aug. 31.

Regular meeting set

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The regular meeting of the Belmont County Public Defender Commission is scheduled for 4 p.m. June 9 in the public defender’s office, 121 Newell Ave., St. CLairsville.

Resurfacing is underway

BLAINE — U.S. 40 is being resurfaced from St. Clairsville to Blaine. Traffic is being maintained via flaggers. The completion date is Sept. 30.

Session canceled due to pandemic

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Regional Planning Commission has canceled its session scheduled for Wednesday due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.

Ohio 26 closed for slide repair projects

NEW CASTLE — Ohio 26 is closed for 30 days just north of New Castle for a slide repair project. Traffic is detoured via Ohio 145 west to Ohio 800, Ohio 800 north to Ohio 148, Ohio 148 east back to Ohio 26, and reverse. Completion date is Oct. 31

Ohio 26 also is restricted south of Ohio 148 for a slide repair project. Traffic is being maintained via temporary traffic signals and 11-foot width restriction. That completion date is Oct. 31.

Career centers reduce summer hours

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — As has been past practice, the Belmont Career Center in St. Clairsville and Harrison Career Center in Cadiz will implement a four-day work schedule in an effort to continue reducing overhead costs.

This practice begins June 1 with hours from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Regular hours will be reinstated Aug. 24.

Ohio 647 closed for slide repair project

MARTINS FERRY — Ohio 647 is closed for 30 days west of Martins Ferry for a slide repair project. Traffic is being detoured via Ohio 7 south to U.S. 250, U.S. 250 west to Ohio 150, Ohio 150 east back to Ohio 647, and reverse. Completion date is June 18.

Commissioners meet Wednesday

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Belmont County Board of Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the courthouse in St. Clairsville. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only 10 people are permitted in the meeting room at one time, but a monitor for viewing the meeting is available in the hall.

Ohio 148 slide repair project

ARMSTRONGS MILLS — Located east of Armstrongs Mills between Ramsey Ridge Road and Clover Ridge Road, a slide repair project is being performed on Ohio 148 with one lane of traffic maintained via temporary traffic signals. Completion date is Sept. 30.

Ohio 149 closed for slide repair project

STEWARTSVILLE — Ohio 149 is closed for 120 days in Stewartsville for a slide repair project. Traffic is being detoured via Ohio 149 west to Ohio 9, Ohio 9 north to Interstate 70, I-70 east to I-470, I-470 east to Ohio 7, Ohio 7 south back to Ohio 149, and reverse. Completion date is Sept. 1.

Ohio 147 slide repair underway

BELLAIRE — Work to repair a slide is underway between Brown Hollow Road and Bellaire. Traffic is being maintained via temporary traffic signals. Completion date is July 31.
