Bellaire Alumni Board names award winners for 2020

BELLAIRE — The Bellaire High School Alumni Board announced Madison Taylor and Trace Sechrest as the winners of the Senior Service Award for 2020.

The Senior Service Award is recognition of two Bellaire High School graduates who are nominated by high school faculty. Nominees are considered based on their contributions to BHS in both curricular and extracurricular time and service.

Normally, these award winners are announced at the BHS annual Spring Banquet held in May. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 directives, the banquet had to be cancelled.

The BHS Alumni Board will honor this year’s Senior Service Award winners and 2020 Outstanding Alumnus Awardee Kathy Wallace (Class of 1970) at the 2021 annual Spring Banquet in May. The 2020 Achievement Award recipients and Endowment Scholarship Winners will also be recognized at this time as well.

The 2020 achievement honorees and categories are: Megan Sechrest (2004) Arts, CJ LaRoche (2004) Business; Ron Marling (1970), Civics; Kevin West (1980), Civics and Peter Cook (1992), Medical.

Between the BHS Alumni Association and its sister organization, the Endowment Board, 13 students were awarded over $100,000 in scholarships.

The 2020 honorees and scholarship winners were: : Tenley Hughes and Cole Porter, Richard Hornbeck Memorial Scholarship, Andrew Kolenich, Richard Saffield Memorial Scholarship, Madison Hotlosz and Mason Beveridge, Forrest Hills Community Association Scholarship, Tayah Frazier, Nancy Gulley Trigg Memorial Scholarship, Kaitlyn Kosky, Burda Award, Tayah Frazier, James R. and Mary Shiretta Wallace Memorial Scholarship, Mason Beveridge, Freeman Memorial Scholarship, Quentin Baker, Pappano Family Memorial Scholarship, Madison Hotlosz, Madison Taylor and Andrew Kolenich, Italian American Scholarship,Trenton Wilson, Jessica Frizzi Memorial Scholarship, Heather Mehlman and Kaitlyn Kosky, VE Scholarship, Madison Taylor, Lorrie Klempa Davis Memorial Scholarship, Trenton Wilson, Clara and Dom Presutti Scholarship, Chase Nolan, Dennis S. Pogany Family Scholarship, Trace Sechrest, Diane Ledder Memorial Scholarhip, Kaitlyn Kosky, June Robson Memorial Scholarship, Heather Mehlman, Bonar Family Memorial Scholarship.
