MARTINS FERRY — A new Dollar Tree being constructed in Martins Ferry is expected to open its doors for business on Nov. 19.

Kayleigh Painter, Dollar Tree manager of Investor and Media Relations, said the store will employ between 12 and 20 people, based on its size. It offers 9,950 square feet of space and is located at 500 S. Zane Highway.

“Dollar Tree continues to grow and we are proud to be part of the Martins Ferry community,” Painter said.

Painter said the store will be open seven days a week. Dollar Trees sell a variety of items, all for $1 or less. She said the Martins Ferry location will also include a “Snack Zone” featuring more candy, snacks and beverages.

The site of the store once was home to a Bauer Ford car dealership lot. The corner lot has since sat empty for many decades before being developed into a Dollar Tree location. Dollar Tree’s other local stores are in St. Clairsville, Bellaire, Wheeling and Moundsville.
