Boscov’s offers gifts for everyone

Boscov’s at the Ohio Valley Mall offers items for everyone this shopping season.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Shoppers seeking last-minute Christmas gifts may find what they’re looking for at Boscov’s, a department store that sells a little bit of everything.

Boscov’s has been a part of the Ohio Valley for the past seven years providing residents with a variety of apparel, shoes, home decor, bedding, appliances, electronics, cosmetics, chocolates and more. Gregory Mills, store manager, said the family owned and operated store opened at its Ohio Valley Mall location in October 2013.

“We’re going on our eighth year here at the mall,” he said.

Mills said the full-service department store has something for everyone. The two-level location is equipped with a candy counter where fudge and chocolates are available, a furniture department, apparel and footwear centers, and multiple cosmetic counters.

Mills said with many people working from home due to the coronavirus pandemic, the store’s biggest sellers have shifted this year from business attire to lounge and activewear.

“We’ve been selling a lot of sweatpants, lounge pants, sweatshirts and comfy stay-at-home stuff, body and activewear for people who want to stay fit during the shutdowns that we’ve experienced,” he said.

Boscov’s is running a large holiday sale offering shoppers an additional 20 percent off all of the store’s lowest-marked saleitems on women’s outerwear.

“Outerwear is always a popular gift this time of year,” he said.

Some other popular Christmas items include cosmetics, fragrances, ties and key holders.

“There really is something for everyone,” he said.

Mills said Boscov’s offers curbside pickup for customers who do not feel comfortable entering a store. It’s safe and convenient, he said.

“It’s for those people who don’t want to come into the store or want to be safe. It’s a new service we began offering this year, and it’s really taken off,” he said.

Those wishing to utilize the new service can find it on the store’s website, boscovs.com, and select “curbside pickup” at checkout.

Due to COVID-19 safety practices, the department store is unable to provide gift wrapping services this year; however, it is providing boxes and gift wrap.

“We are still providing boxes with pre-cut paper, tissue paper and a bow. You can stop by the courtesy desk pickup and tell us what size box you want and what kind of paper you want and we’ll have it ready for you,” Mills said.

Mills said the store hopes to resume its gift wrapping service next year.
