BEALLSVILLE — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed two people on Ohio 145 near mile post 2 in Belmont County on Wednesday.

The crash occurred about 10:15 p.m. A 2009 Ford Escape driven by Dustin Shriver, 25, of Beallsville was traveling south and reportedly went off the right side of the roadway and struck two trees.

The driver sustained serious injuries and was transported by Med Flight to a hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. Both passengers, Joshua Stewart, 23, of Clarington and Cody Mundy, 25, of Beallsville, were pronounced dead at the scene. According to the patrol report, alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

The Beallsville Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
