Suspected fentanyl, meth bust in St. C.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — City police made an arrest late Tuesday and took some suspected fentanyl off the streets.

Austin Gheen, 27, of 62913 Glencoe Road, Belmont is being held at the Belmont County Jail on two charges of trafficking in drugs, fentanyl and methamphetamines, and two counts of possession of the same drugs, all felonies of the third degree.

According to St. Clairsville police reports, officers from St. Clairsville and Barnesville conducted a joint investigation of Gheen on suspicion of selling drugs.

Law enforcement set up a buy, with Gheen allegedly offering to sell methamphetamines and Xanax pills.

Officers stopped Gheen’s car on Sugar Street, St. Clairsville, for an active warrant. Six grams of suspected methamphetamine and 20 pressed fentanyl pills were reportedly found.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation will examine the substances.
