Three arrested on charges of bringing drugs from Texas

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Belmont County Sheriff’s Department and the Ohio Organized Crime Unit made three arrests following an investigation of narcotics delivered from Texas into Belmont County.

The Ohio Organized Crime Unit is staffed with detectives from the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation took them to Martins Ferry, where the detectives worked in cooperation with city police to intercept the drugs.

The investigation did not end there, but took law enforcement to Bridgeport and to a local restaurant in St. Clairsville.

Ernest Booker Jr., 23, was arrested for first-degree felony possession of drugs. Alex Leasy, 26, also was arrested for first-degree felony possession. Donnie Pugh, 41, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Belmont County Common Pleas Court for failure to appear on drug trafficking charges. No addresses were provided for the subjects who were arrested.

Belmont County Sheriff David Lucas said more people likely will be charged in connection with the case.

Investigators were assisted by Martins Ferry and Bridgeport police.
