Yorkville Home destroyed by fire Thursday

YORKVILLE — A home in the village is believed to be a total loss following a fire late Thursday morning.

Yorkville Fire Chief Crystal McNamara said everyone, including the dog, escaped the burning home safely. She said the blaze occurred at 110 Sinclair Ave. and was reported at 11:13 a.m. With assistance from the Martins Ferry and Tiltonsville fire department, firefighters knocked the flames down pretty quickly, McNamara said, but the damage was extensive.

McNamara said the cause of the fire was determined to be electrical. She said the flames spread quickly up the front wall of the porch, then shot across the attic and out the back attic window.
