Cadiz mourning loss of police officer

CADIZ — The Cadiz Police Department and other local entities are mourning the loss of an officer who died of natural causes Thursday.

Sgt. Paul Howell suffered a heart attack Thursday night following his shift at the department, according to a social media post by Ohio Going Blue.

“It is with very heavy hearts that we report to you that Sgt. Paul Howell of Cadiz Police Department died of a massive heart attack after returning home at the end of his shift last night. He served in law enforcement for over 40 years. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, both blood and blue. R.I.P. Sgt. Howell, we thank you for your service and promise to never forget you. Please keep a vigilant watch over your brothers and sisters in blue from the streets of heaven,” the post states.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office also took to social media to express condolences.

“Rest in peace Sgt. Paul Howell. You were loved and respected by us all. You were one of the most dedicated, hard working officers in our county. You will never be forgotten, brother. Watch over us all pal,” the department states.
