SHADYSIDE — The Shadyside High School band and music department received matching funds to complete a $5,000 donation from alumni and friends, with assistance from Vision:Shadyside, together with the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio and its new online giving platform Cause Connector, during a presentation May 5.

The proceeds will be used to infuse new life into the music program by purchasing and replacing band instruments. This initial $5,000 contribution is part of a bigger goal of $35,000 that Vision:Shadyside and the high school are attempting to raise.

Vision:Shadyside is a group of volunteers led by Nancy Marzella, who has spent many years assisting Ohio State University and West Virginia University with fundraising goals. Other volunteer Shadyside alumni and friends are working closely with her to help the village of Shadyside and the Shadyside Local School District, led by Superintendent John Haswell, to map out a strategic plan for Shadyside’s future.
