CADIZ — A new dog groomer who promises to provide furry clients with a clean and comfortable environment has opened its doors in Cadiz.

Mango’s Star Grooming held its grand opening earlier this month and is ready to welcome new dog clients of all sizes and hairstyles.

Lynde and Lexi Shields, sisters and co-owners of the facility, said they have had a pretty steady week and a half since opening but are always ready to accept new clients. The salon offers baths, haircuts, ear cleanings, nail trimmings and anal gland expressions for dogs. In the future, they plan to expand services to include cats as well.

The salon is partially named after Lynde’s dog Mango, a 1.5-year-old Corgi, and also after Lynde whose middle name is Star.

“The name has a little bit of both of us in it,” Lynde added.

Lynde said Mango is the salon’s mascot, greeter and helped inspire her to open the facility as she wanted to create an environment where she could be with him at all times.

Lynde has worked for a few different groomers in the area over the past few years; however, she said they did not always have openings for clients or comfortable environment for the animals which is what led her to open her own salon.

She said she enjoys taking her time with each dog and making sure each one feels safe and comfortable.

“Some places care more about the money than the well-being of the animal, and that is the main reason I wanted to start my own. I care about the well-being of each animal and the owners who need someone to provide that service,” she said.

Lynde said there is a real need in the area for groomers as many places are booked up for months. She said she wanted to help fill that need and provide pet owners with a place to take their dogs who need grooming.

“Anyone who needs an appointment, we will get them in as soon as possible,” she added.

Lynde said they are able to perform a variety of different cuts on any breed of dog. Treats and drinks are available for both humans and dogs.

Lexi said the facility contains all new wash stations and equipment. The duo pride themselves on providing a safe place for people and their pets.

“We make sure your pet feels as comfortable as possible. … We like them to feel like they’re home. When you walk in here it feels cozy,” she said.
