BARNESVILLE — Every village needs a good, hometown restaurant, one where you can count on getting a good meal at a good price.
And Annie K’s Restaurant in the village of Barnesville fits that bill.
The eatery describes itself as having “good food and good people.” Owner and Manager Pat Keiser said his mother, Annie Keiser, started the business 30 years ago. Annie has since retired.
Keiser’s wife, Amy Keiser, also works at the eatery and takes care of its social media page.
“It’s a small, hometown restaurant where everybody knows everybody,” Keiser said.
Keiser said Annie K’s also has a few longtime employees, including one who has worked there for 27 years and others there for 10 and 12 years.
Keiser said the restaurant’s most popular menu item is its grilled chicken salad. Annie K’s uses fresh chicken and hamburger for its dishes, not frozen. It also uses fresh potatoes to make its own home fries typically served with breakfast items.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner items are all on the same menu and can be ordered at the same time.
Amy Keiser often posts the specials of the day on social media including chicken noodles over mashed potatoes, cabbage soup, Coleman’s fish dinners, deep fried catfish, tuna melt, beef vegetable soup, salmon patty dinners, grilled chicken caesar salad with ciabatta roll, cabbage roll soup, popcorn shrimp basket with fries, soup beans and cornbread, chili, taco salad, hot shredded chicken salad, homemade macaroni salad, creamed chicken over biscuits, beef noodles over mashed potatoes, signature double decker burgers, meatloaf dinner, cabbage and red potatoes baked steak dinner, pork chop dinners and much more.
Annie K’s also offers a variety of desserts including lemon meringue pie, German chocolate cake, strawberry cake and more.
“I came out to help her … and I’ve been here ever since,” Pat Keiser noted of his mother and getting involved with the business.
Breakfast items include french toast, eggs, omelets, fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy and more.
Located at 787 E. Main St., Barnesville, Annie K’s summer hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays; and closed Saturdays and Sundays.
