BRIDGEPORT — In addition to carrying marble, granite, quartzite and other natural stones, Angelina Stone & Marble now fabricates custom quartz countertops.

The family-owned shop has been a staple in Bridgeport for more than 25 years and offers over 100 years of combined experience in bathrooms, custom kitchens and bars, and monument restoration.

John and Sharon Emery, co-owners of the shop, said quartz countertops are the newest trend and are in high demand. Sharon said quartz countertops are often featured on HGTV and in modern homes.

She said the business offers an array of colors for indoor and outdoor kitchens, bathroom vanities and shower shelves.

“They are extremely strong, stain resistant, a modern product and the colors are always consistent,” Sharon added.

John said they offer customers the opportunity to come in and view full slabs of the materials they carry, unlike some retailers who may only offer small portions of what the product will entail.

Sharon said that gives customers the opportunity to view the full grain and select areas they prefer and others they dislike in a piece.

“They have the ability to come in and say, ‘I don’t want that piece of white, I just want the rose color,'” she said.

John said this allows customers to create a custom, unique fabricated piece. For the granite countertops, they have between 20 and 30 color options in house; and if you can’t find one you like, there are hundreds more available at its supplier just outside of Pittsburgh.

Sharon said they have most colors in cool and warm options.

John said granite countertops are some of the best countertops you can get and are a low maintenance option.

Sharon said the material a customer selects depends on the look they are going for — the modern farmhouse to the sleek, ultra clean kitchen look.

“It’s how ever you want your kitchen to look,” she said. “Each piece is unique to your home.”

The shop also has a monument restoration division where they fabricate limestone, sandstone and perform historical restorations on churches, schools, houses and monuments.

The shop has been a member of the Natural Stone Institute since 2003.

John said the institute sets standards for grades of marble, limestone, quartz and so forth.

Angelina Stone & Marble is open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday at 55341 W. Center St., Bridgeport.
