Search warrants served in Adena

One arrested in connection to catalytic converter thefts

STEUBENVLLE — The Ohio State Highway Patrol executed multiple search warrants Sept. 9 on Hanna Avenue in the village of Adena.

The warrants were the result of a lengthy investigation conducted by the patrol into the thefts of catalytic converters stolen from vehicles along roadways and local Park and Rides.

As a result of the search warrants, several catalytic converters from various vehicle makes were seized along with cash, tools used to remove the converters, drug paraphernalia and a firearm, which was in the possession of a convicted felon.

Shawn Harris, 47, of Adena was arrested and charged with felony theft. Harris was incarcerated in the Belmont County Jail. Charges were filed by the Belmont County Prosecutor’s Office.

The patrol was assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Smithfield Township Police Department.
