Two injured on Colerain Pike in Belmont County

MARTINS FERRY — Two people were injured in a house fire Wednesday night at a home located at 54602 Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry.

Ty Wilson, assistant fire chief with the Colerain Fire Company, said the blaze resulted in two people being injured. One person was treated at the scene and declined being transported to a hospital. A second person was treated and released from a hospital. No one else was hurt.

“Unfortunately, there was significant fire damage to the garages attached to the home and smoke and water damage in the home,” Wilson said.

Fire departments that initially responded included Colerain, Barton and Sunset Heights. Brookside was called to bring an additional ambulance. He said Martins Ferry and Mount Pleasant firefighters were called later to provide some relief to the first crews on the scene.

“This fire is not suspicious in nature. We did have a follow up with the State Fire Marshal’s Office yesterday, and all parties agree this cause will be listed as undetermined but not suspicious at this time,” Wilson said.
