Michigan man arrested on drug charges in Monroe County

WOODSFIELD — A Michigan man is in police custody on multiple drug charges after law enforcement conducted a search of his vehicle outside of a gas station in Lewisville.

According to a release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement received a call at 10:15 a.m. Monday from the Lewisville Carryout, located along Ohio 78, regarding a male sitting in a maroon pickup truck that had been in the parking lot for more than an hour and did not appear to be “doing well.” It was requested that law enforcement send someone to check on the male.

Deputy David Miller arrived on scene and began speaking with the vehicle occupant, identified as William Hitchings of Michigan. Miller and K-9 Max performed an open-air sniff of the vehicle. K-9 Max indicated on the driver’s door of the vehicle.

During the search of the vehicle, law enforcement allegedly discovered methamphetamines, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, scales and baggies.

Hitchings was arrested and transported to the Monroe County Jail. He has been charged with two counts of trafficking in drugs, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and possession of drug abuse instruments.
