The Ohio Valley Farmers' Market is excited to announce plans for the upcoming 2023 season. The Market will open its 45th season on Saturday, June 3 in Bellaire from 9 a.m.-noon at the municipal parking lot on 32nd St.
The Market will also operate in the Boscov's parking lot at the Ohio Valley Mall but will move from Thursdays to Tuesdays. Hours of operation will change to 3-6pm. This change will allow for more vendors and a larger selection.
The Market is pleased to announce the return of The Ultimate Farm Breakfast on Saturday, May 6, beginning at 10 a.m. at West Virginia Northern Community College. The staff and students of the WVNCC Culinary Arts Program will prepare a four- to five-course breakfast featuring locally sourced foods. Tickets are $35 per person. The proceeds will help defray operating costs for the Market. Seating is limited. Reservations are required.
The Market is accepting applications for new vendors. Produce growers are needed, but those with other agricultural goods, home-produced foods, and artisan crafts are also welcome to apply. There will be a meeting for all interested and returning vendors at 6 p.m. Monday in the community room of the Ohio Valley Mall. Attendance is encouraged.
Thanks to a generous grant from the EQT Foundation, the Market will continue to feature local musicians and children's activities. At the Tasting Tent on Saturdays, shoppers can sample a variety of locally grown and produced foods.
Children will also be welcome to sign up to be sous chefs and assist Chef Katie at the Tasting Tent each week. More information will be available soon.
