Jets staff honored for service, audit

Some familiar faces will be missing from Union Local School District's halls and classrooms next school year. Retiring staff members are recognized Thursday for their years of service to the district. The include, from left, Sheryl Sonk, sixth grade teacher retiring after 26 years; Evelyn Wilson, middle school paraprofessional, 25 years; Kathy Fowkes, director of food services and transportation, 28 years; Rod Roby, maintenance supervisor, 40 years; Janet Hissrich, treasurer, 21 years; Marie Compston, middle school music teacher, 25 years; and Lisa Marple, high school art teacher, 35 years. Not present are retirees Risha Romshak, second grade teacher, 32 years, and Joel Davia, middle school principal, 30 years. In front is Paige Kemp, accepting a certificate for her grandmother the late Melinda Kemp, who served as administrative assistant for 25 years.

he fiscal staff of Union Local School District is recognized by the board of education Thursday for earning an Auditor of State award for the ninth consecutive fiscal year of flawless audits. Janet Hissrich, center, retiring, commended her staff including Chris Bonnett, left, and Stephanie Harris. Staff member Kelley Brown could not attend.
