Monroe County car chase suspect in court Wednesday
MALAGA — A Jacobsburg man accused of leading Monroe County deputies on a high-speed chase is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
Skylar Shipley, 24, of Jacobsburg will appear before Monroe County Court Judge Jason Yoss for an initial appearance.
According to Sheriff Charles Black, the incident occurred 1:30 a.m. Sunday when Deputy Andrew Frame attempted to perform a traffic stop on a silver sedan on Ohio 800 north near Malaga.
“The vehicle failed to stop, continued South on Ohio 800 and the pursuit ended on Ozark Eddy Bridge Road with the driver left the roadway,” he said, adding speeds were up to 80 mph.
The vehicle reportedly drove into a hay field and crashed into a parked vehicle and garage.
Black said Shipley’s passenger, Shania Dalrymple, 24. from Woodsfield, was released and Shipley was transported to a hospital.
“He was released and we brought him back here to the sheriff’s office where he’s currently being held on failure to comply, unlawful restraint and vandalism. He also has warrants out of West Virginia for embezzlement,” Black said.
Black said the unlawful restraint charge rose from Dalrymple’s presence in the vehicle.
