Centre Market turns Red, White and Brew!
The sounds and smells of food trucks and live music are coming to Centre Market at the 2023 Red, White and Brew! street party from 5-10 p.m. Friday.
The free event is put on by the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley in partnership with Centre Market and features live music, food trucks, beer and extended hours of operation for Centre Market’s favorite shops and restaurants.
Staci Stephen, executive director of the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, said the event caters to all types of people and encourages local residents to take advantage of a Friday night out.
“It’s open to anyone, and it’s a great night to come out with your friends and have a couples night, girls’ night or a guys’ night,” she said. “There’s music, food and people get up and dance, so it’s just a fun night to get out and listen to some music.”
The event will round out a week full of Independence Day celebrations. Red, White and Brew! was originally slated to hit Centre Market last Friday evening but was pushed back due to weather concerns and is now replacing Centre Market’s First Friday Summer Concert Series.
Family Tradition will be kicking off the event’s live music with its set beginning at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. Taylor Jo and the Copper Creek Band will take the stage from 8-10 p.m. to close out the evening.
All proceeds from the event support the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley and Wheeling’s Centre Market. Stephen says those who attend are not only supporting the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, but also all of the organizations it works to help.
“Our motto is what’s raised here stays here, so everything that we raise stays here in the Ohio Valley,” she said. “We partner with approximately 20 nonprofit agencies throughout the Ohio Valley, and we serve all of Tyler, Ohio, Marshall and Brooke counties, as well as Belmont County in Ohio, with about 20 different nonprofits and approximately 30 programs.”
All attendees over age 21 wishing to drink alcohol must purchase a $2 wristband. Attendees can also purchase a wristband and collectors’ mug for $12 and receive a complimentary drink.
The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley is holding another fundraiser this month with its Celebrity Scoopers event on July 19, 20 and 22 at Kirke’s Homemade Ice Cream in St. Clairsville.
