Organizations across Eastern Ohio provide free school supplies

ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS Eastern Ohio are hosting community events to provide students with the supplies they need to go back to school.
First Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry will be providing free school supplies for kindergarten through eighth grade students who attend Martins Ferry public schools and who sign up between 10 a.m. and noon this Monday through Friday. Parents or guardians must provide identification and proof of residency. The church is located at 400 Walnut St. in Martins Ferry.
The Bridgeport Fire Department will be hosting its fourth annual National Night Out from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bridgeport High School, where vendors will be giving away free school supplies.
The event will also feature live entertainment, inflatables and free food.
Bridgeport High School is located at 55707 Industrial Drive.
The Barnesville Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual back-to-school event as part of the Fun in the Ville series from 4-6 p.m. Thursday.
Attendees can pick up a backpack at Barnesville Elementary School and fill it with supplies along Main Street and in the community. The school is located at 210 W. Church St.
Fun in the Ville activities will take place from 4-8 p.m. at the West Main Street Parking Lot. The event will feature a DJ, food vendors, a dunk tank, a balloon artist, open sparring presented by The Body Head Boxing Club and line dancing.
Rolling Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Bridgeport will host a back-to-school fun fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The event will provide free school supplies to students, and the first 40 students who arrive at the event will receive a free backpack.
The event will also feature free lunch, an ice cream sundae bar and games. Rolling Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is located at 68222 Commercial Drive in Bridgeport.
Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarington will give away free school supplies at its rummage and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 5. The first 50 children who arrive at the event will receive a free backpack. School supplies will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Immanuel United Church of Christ is located at 124 Shepherd Place in Clarington.
The Buckeye Local School District will be hosting its annual Back to School Bash from 3-5 p.m. Aug. 6 at Buckeye Local High School. The district will provide free school supplies to give to all children who attend, and the event will also feature music from the Buckeye Local High School Marching Band and a dunking booth. The high school is located at 10692 State Route 150 in Rayland.
The St. Clairsville Area Chamber of Commerce will be giving away backpacks and school supplies during its last Second Saturday event of the summer from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 12 in front of the Belmont County Courthouse. The chamber currently plans to give away backpacks full of supplies to the first 50 elementary students who arrive, but the organization is still collecting donations and hopes to provide backpacks to more students. The event will also feature vendors. The courthouse is located at 101 W. Main St. in St. Clairsville.
Bellaire Presbyterian Church will host a back-to-school fair for students of Bellaire public schools or St. John Central Academy from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 19. The church will have a closet open during the fair to provide both children and adults with free clothing. The church will begin giving away free school supplies at noon for children going into preschool up to 12th grade. A free lunch will also be provided. The church is located at 3599 Guernsey St. in Bellaire.
