SHADYSIDE — The compassionate spirit of the community will be on full display as St. Mary Catholic Church in Shadyside rallies to support a Powhatan Point resident, 21-year-old Camden Brown.
Brown, a graduate of Shadyside High School, has been diagnosed with Leber hereditary optic neuropathy, a rare disorder that can lead to progressive vision loss in young males. In response, the community is coming together to organize a fundraiser with a heartfelt mission.
On Nov. 5, St. Mary Catholic Church invites all to a spaghetti dinner starting at noon in Sartori Hall.
The funds raised during this event will go to support Brown as he seeks specialized treatment from a renowned expert in California with a track record of successfully treating this condition.
The event promises not only a delicious meal but also additional opportunities for the community to contribute to Brown’s cause.
An anonymous donor stepped forward offering two Steelers jerseys, including a Jack Lambert authentic jersey and an autographed jersey from Eric Ebron. These jerseys will be featured on tip boards, providing attendees with a chance to win these pieces of memorabilia.
In addition to the jersey offerings, there will be a variety of baskets, an auction and a 50/50 drawing, adding a layer of excitement to the event while giving attendees the chance to win prizes.
