Monroe County Sheriff’s Office makes two arrests after finding ‘large quantity of fentanyl’
WOODSFIELD — K9 Deputy David Miller of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office performed a traffic stop for multiple violations at 3:34 p.m. Saturday on State Route 7 in Hannibal according to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver was identified as Robin Utt of New Martinsville, West Virginia, and the passenger was identified as Chelsea Briggs, also from New Martinsville.
During the traffic stop, Miller deployed K9 Max who gave a positive indication of the presence of narcotics.
While searching the vehicle, Miller and Sgt. Clayton Galloway allegedly discovered a “large quantity” of fentanyl weighing approximately 134.65 grams according to the press release. Miller and Galloway also allegedly discovered drug abuse instruments, bags for transporting drugs and a glass jar containing marijuana.
Utt and Briggs have been transported to the Monroe County Jail.
Utt is being held on charges of possession of drug abuse instruments, possession of fentanyl (bulk) and trafficking in drugs.
Briggs is being held on charges of possession of drug abuse instruments, possession of fentanyl (bulk), trafficking in drugs and tampering with evidence.
