WOODSFIELD -- Monroe County sheriff's deputies made an arrest after receiving a false report of a shooting.
According to a news release from Sheriff Charles Black Jr., the Monroe County Sheriff's Office received a call around 12:54 a.m. Monday from Larry Pruitt of Woodsfield. During the call, Pruitt allegedly said that a male had been shot in the leg below the knee.
Deputies Hunter Cline, Will Poling, David Miller and Sgt. Clayton Galloway reported to the scene. Those officials conducted an investigation and reportedly discovered that no one had been shot. Instead, Pruitt allegedly was under the influence of narcotics when he made the call and was in possession of a firearm.
Pruitt was arrested on charges of possessing weapons under disability, inducing panic, disrupting public services, tampering with evidence and a probation violation. He was lodged in the Monroe County Jail on Wednesday.
