Ohio Senate President Matt Huffman issues guidelines for 30th District screening committee

COLUMBUS -- Following the announcement that Ohio Sen. Frank Hoagland, R-Mingo Junction, will be departing the Ohio Senate at month's end, Senate President Matt Huffman, R-Lima, released the application process for filling the impending 30th Senate District vacancy.
The district encompasses Athens, Belmont, Harrison, Jefferson, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble and Washington counties as well as portions of Guernsey County.
The vacancy will be filled by the Senate Republican Caucus, which is constitutionally empowered to elect Hoagland's successor. The member-elect will serve for the remainder of the senator's current term, ending in December 2024, and would need to seek election on the 2024 ballot if that person intends to pursue a full four-year term.
The Senate Republican Caucus will accept applications until 4 p.m. Nov. 29. Applicants should send a resume, letters of recommendation and any other supporting material considered relevant to the applicant's qualifications. The material should be mailed or hand-delivered to the following address:

Huffman will appoint a screening committee to review applications. Applicants are expected to be available to meet in person with the screening committee and will be contacted by the Senate Republican Caucus to schedule any necessary interviews.
