New second-hand store opens in Martins Ferry

MARTINS FERRY — A new second-hand store called Two Times Clothing and Collectibles recently opened in Martins Ferry.

The store is co-owned by Peyton Bourgeois and Don Cruise and is located at 415 Hanover St. in the former Ceramic Fever & Boyds Bears building. Its slogan is “Wear it two times.”

Cruise said the store has been in the works since October.

“There’s been some remodeling, a lot of painting, putting the racks on the walls, and then just getting everything over here and trying to get it organized. It’s still a work in progress,” Cruise said.

Cruise said this is his and his business partner’s first time owning a physical store. He said they had been selling items online for a few years prior to opening the new shop.

Cruise said most of the items in the store come from Goodwill, yard sales and flea markets. He said each item is “hand-picked” so that customers know they are getting the best available items.

Cruise also said that Two Times does accept donations.

“We’ll go through them and then if we can’t use them, we’ll pass them on back to Goodwill or something. We’re still looking into how the donation part of that works,” he said.

Cruise also said he is also looking into how to handle tax exemptions and other issues related to donations.

Cruise said Bourgeois also has a storage facility full of items that will make their way into the store once there is room for them.

According to Cruise, the store carries a variety of clothing including flannels, vests, jerseys, hoodies, workwear and shoes. He said the shoes are particularly popular.

“A lot of people when they come in, they go straight for the shoes,” he said.

The store carries clothing in a variety of sizes and styles.

In addition to clothing, the store also carries accessories and other items including vinyl records. Customers can expect to see different collectibles and vintage items each time they visit.

Cruise said the store has items to fit any budget.

“We try to keep it reasonable. We have a lot of $5 and $10 T-shirts, but some of the band T-shirts go up to hundreds,” he said.

Bourgeois said he is grateful to the city of Martins Ferry and the community for their support.

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until 6 or 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The store is closed on Thursday and Sunday.

Cruise said he and Bourgeois are currently the only employees and work in shifts, so store hours are not always consistent. He also said his son plays basketball for Martins Ferry.

“The hours are kind of around that. I try to get out of here by 4 p.m. when he has practice,” Cruise said.
