Caruso charged in Bellaire gas station robbery

BELLAIRE — The Bellaire Police Department charged Kolten B. Caruso with robbery on Friday.

According to a news release from the department, officials believe that Caruso, 23, no address available, is responsible for the robbery at the Rich Oil Gas Station that happened on Feb. 18.

Multiple agencies have been investigating several recent robberies in the Ohio Valley, including the robbery at Kroger in Martins Ferry, one at Kroger in Moundsville and another at Dollar General in Colerain, in addition to the robbery in Bellaire.

Bellaire Police Chief J.J. Watson said that the investigation has led to Caruso as the possible suspect.

“Officers were able to interview Caruso where they were able to get information leading to the charges and arrest for multiple robberies in the local area,” he said.

Caruso was lodged in the Northern Regional Jail at Moundsville on Friday on criminal charges filed by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office charged Caruso with malicious assault, DUI, fleeing with reckless indifference, possession, fleeing from an officer, destruction of property, possession of a stolen vehicle and reckless driving on Tuesday after Caruso allegedly attempted to flee police in a stolen vehicle.
