Highway patrol gives update on I-470 shooting

LT. BRIAN McFarland, St. Clairsville post commander of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, said the post is asking for public assistance in finding a suspect in a shooting that took place around 10:37 p.m. Tuesday.

He said officials have still not identified a suspect, and he is asking anyone who saw two commercial trucks pulled over between 10 and 11 p.m. on Tuesday along I-470 to call the office with a detailed description of what they saw.

McFarland said the suspect is believed to be a black male who was wearing a black toboggan at the time of the incident. He said the suspect was reportedly driving a commercial vehicle with blue lettering.

McFarland said the victim, Michael Brundage of Ellenboro, West Virginia, is still in the hospital and will likely be released on Saturday or Sunday.

McFarland said Brundage’s truck had broken down near mile marker 3 on the westbound side of travel. Another commercial truck driver also pulled over and apparently asked if Brundage needed any help.

McFarland said the victim was then shot in the face, and the other driver fled the scene.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Anyone who has any information regarding the incident should call the Ohio State Highway Patrol Cambridge Post — Office of Criminal Investigations at 740-439-1388 or the St. Clairsville Post at 740-695-0915.
