DeWine announces approval of two state projects that will create 215 jobs and $25 million in investments

COLUMBUS — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted on Monday announced the approval of two projects — one in Monroe County — that will create 215 new jobs and retain 353 jobs statewide.

During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners.

The projects are expected to result in more than $15 million in new payroll and spur $25 million in investments across Ohio.

In Monroe County, American Heavy Plate Solutions LLC expects to create 15 full-time positions, generating more than $700,000 in new annual payroll, as a result of the company’s expansion project in Ohio Township. American Heavy Plates supplies made-to-order heavy carbon and alloy steel plates and finished parts focused on rapid production, processing and distribution of parts for various industrial and infrastructure applications.

The proposed project includes expanding its existing facility, allowing the company to increase product offerings by expanding current production and heat-treating capacity. TCA approved a 1.011%, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Meanwhile, Team Wendy LLC in Cleveland expects to create 200 full-time positions, generating $15 million in new annual payroll, as a result of the company’s expansion project. Team Wendy is a protective gear company and global supplier of helmet systems that protect against impact-related injuries for the military, law enforcement, search and rescue, and adventure sports.

The proposed project includes the expansion of the company’s existing facility to increase production capacity and house additional employees. TCA approved a 1.972%, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
