Belmont College, Wheeling Heritage partner to hold traditional building arts expo

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Belmont College Building Preservation/Restoration Student Association is pleased to be partnering with Wheeling Heritage to host the “Traditional Building Arts Expo” from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Wheeling Artisan Center in Downtown Wheeling.

There is no cost to attend the expo.

The community is invited to view student projects and demonstrations by BPR students who are learning the skills of the traditional building trades to preserve, maintain and restore historic buildings. Examples of ornamental plaster, wood parquetry, stained glass, blacksmithing, hand-made ceramic tile and scagliola all made by students in the program will be displayed.

“We are excited to partner with Wheeling Heritage for this event,” said Derrick Smith, BPR assistant professor. “This expo aims to celebrate our students’ achievements and provide a platform for them to showcase their original creations from their time in the BPR program.”

For more information, contact Smith at 740-699-3939 or dsmith@belmontcollege.edu.
